Education and Experience Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program; or 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the industry. Understanding of the transportation industry with working knowledge of diesel maintenance and repair principles is preferred. Basic understanding of planned and unplanned maintenance and repair practices. Understanding of labor and warranty policies is preferred. Ability to negotiate cost skillfully in challenging situations with both internal and external customers. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment. Sales, Customer Service and Marketing JOB DESCRIPTION The Logistics Intern is responsible for enhancing and increasing the customer/shipper base of ATS Logistics Services through customer service, marketing, and sales. He or she will contact existing, inactive, or potential shippers to secure shipments for current and future carrier requirements; evaluate and maintain a shipper base in the data system on an ongoing basis; and maintain updated information on all available shipments.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is currently pursuing a college degree in a related field and a good understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles. In addition, he or she must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and exceptional customer service, sales, and negotiation skills. Strong computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Sales, Customer Service and Marketing The Customer Service Manager is responsible for managing customer service and national accounts representatives. Responsible for staffing and directing the customer service team and national accounts team, establishing strategies and implementing plans to expand current customer base and penetrate new opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage Customer Service and National Accounts representatives to ensure adequate freight is available on an as-needed basis. Manages customer relations and service-related matters consistent with ATS objectives. Constantly attempts to increase the efficiency of freight hauled. Acts as a mediator between the customer and customer service representative when necessary, to ensure professional, courteous service is being given at all times. Works hand in hand with Sales and Operations to ensure customer fits current strategic model. Continually attempts to strengthen and enhance the customer base through prospecting and courteous calls. Sells ATS service to potential clients. Contracts existing or inactive customers to sell ATS service to them. Occasionally makes outside sales calls. Qualifies new customers matching ATS and customer needs. Supervises and coordinates the activities of the customer service representatives. Hires, trains, disciplines and terminates employees. Monitors employee performance, conducts employee performance reviews, recommends promotions and salary adjustments, and offers assistance and direction when needed. Assigns, schedules and reviews work, ensuring that all areas are adequately covered-including, but not limited to, periods of absence. Promotes a collaborative approach amongst the customer service representatives. Assists in establishing goals. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. Education and Experience Must have basic computer skills. Must have excellent phone etiquette, general clerical and organizational skills. Transportation knowledge is preferred. 2-4 years of experience with leading a team of individuals in a customer-service based environment. Competencies Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently. Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects. Must be able to demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff. Must be proficient in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required. Judgment skills. Must be able to make tough decisions. Must be proficient in handling difficult customer situations, responding to customer needs for service and assistance, and meeting commitments.
